I am from Birmingham, Alabama. I received my BS in Business Administration from the University of Alabama (Roll Tide). After I graduated, I accepted a job as a Software Sales Specialist with IBM in Detroit, Michigan. I sold all of the web-based software to encourage the increase in business participation on the internet. I left IBM after about 3 years to work for Sun Microsystems as an Account Executive. In that role, I lead sales teams, and sold software, hardware, and services. This position was very interesting and complex because often I had to partner and team with my competitors in order to come up with the best solution for my customers. During the dot.com bust, I decided to leave my role at Sun, and I moved to Ecuador to have some time to think about the best plan for my future.
While I was living in Detroit, I had begun reading many nonfiction books about economics, and I read "The Economist" magazine weekly. I became very interested in international business and economics. While I was at Sun, I took 2 1/2 weeks off to travel alone to Guatemala to increase my Spanish speaking skills. Then I found an opportunity to travel legally to Cuba from Miami for a 2-week cultural exchange. Those experiences contributed to my willingness to move to Ecuador. I was a professor of English at the Universidad de ManabĂ. It was a wonderful experience. I learned a lot about the world and myself.
While I was in Ecuador, I made the decision to go to B-school. My focuses were on small schools, which would allow me to network with my classmates and alumni and give me the opportunity to travel abroad as a requirement to my degree in International Management. At Tepper, my concentrations are Accounting, Finance, and Economics. The track in which I will graduate is Global Leadership in the Economy (which means international business).

Jill, I am from Birmingham, an UA grad (Computer Science) and a co-worker of your father's. I am applying to Tepper's FlexTime MBA program and I would be very interested in speaking with you since we have numerous things in common. Thanks, Rebecca

Hi Rebecca-I will certainly be in touch with you this week. Tepper needs to keep the taste of the South and the best of us in its system.

Hi Jill,
I'm also really interested in applying to the FlexTime program. Being a fellow Southern female minority, I would really appreciate the opportunity to ask you a couple of questions, if your schedule permits. Thanks!
